New Branch Manager for AXO UK
AXO Shredders are pleased to announce that Dave Gilberd has been appointed as Branch Manager, AXO Shredders UK. Dave will be known to many in the UK shredding industry, having founded the AXO UK branch and having various roles with the company. Daves high energy and "can do" attitude have been tremendous assets to the branch over the last 5 years, and we look forward to continuing strong growth.
New Sales Consultant for AXO UK
AXO are also pleased to announce that Daniel Hawtin has been appointed as UK based Sales Consultant for AXO Shredders Ltd.
Daniel brings a wealth of shredding industry experience, having previously been involved in shredding service sales in the UK at both local and national levels with a global mobile shredding company.
The new appointments to the AXO UK branch come at a time when AXO have increased their production capacity by moving to a factory three times larger than their existing facility in order to cater for the increasing sales of their static and mobile shredding machinery.
We congratulate both Dave and Daniel on their appointments to their respective roles and look forward to a successful 2009 and beyond.
The AXO Metro 7.5 ton mobile shredding truck launched
The latest addition to AXO's range of mobile shredding trucks was unveiled on the 16th September 2008 at the RWM Recycling and Waste Management Expo in Birmingham, UK.
The AXO Metro has been dubbed the 7.5 ton mobile shredder in reference to its ultra-low GVW, and proved to be of great interest to both seasoned operators and potential new entrants alike. There are a number of benefits this compact but powerful unit offers, the most obvious of course being the size of the Metro. At 6.5 meters or 21 feet long, the Metro is the shortest mobile shredding truck on the market, offering the best maneuverability and ease of parking. With a GVW of only 7.5 tons, in many markets the licence required to drive the Metro is of a lower category than that required to drive larger mobile shredding trucks. This can bring the benefits of a reduced wage cost and a greater range of driver options.
While the truck size has been reduced with the Metro, shred speed has not. The Metro is fitted with AXO's tried and tested 408 shredder block and the standard 408 auger compactor, and therefore achieves the same throughput as the standard 408 model. Like the standard 408, the Metro shreds loose waste office paper, thick bound reports, books and a wide variety of product.
By engineering out excess weight the legal payload of the Metro comes in at a respectable 2.3 tons, making it an ideal option for regular scheduled shredding. An additional benefit of the light weight of the Metro is the reduction in fuel consumption, with both cost and environmental benefits.
In designing the Metro, ease of use was in mind. Features such as remote start mean that the operator doesn't have to return to the cab to start and stop the truck engine, saving time and reducing movements the operator makes, and importantly reducing movements into the traffic lane when entering the cab. Making the truck engine easy to start and stop also further reduces fuel consumption and noise output, as operators are inclined to only run the engine when shredding, not leave it idling while they attend to other jobs before returning to the cab to shut down the engine.
AXO exhibited at two events in Europe during September, and both proved to be very busy with a great deal of interest in both mobile and offsite shredding equipment.
The NAID Europe 2008 Conference was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Budapest, Hungary between the 8th - 10th of September. Overlooking the Danube, the location was spectacular and the attendees and exhibitors alike were most impressed. The 2009 NAID Europe conference in Rome, Italy promises to be another well organized and well attended event.
The RWM Recycling and Waste Management Expo was held at the NEC in Birmingham, UK between the 16th - 18th of September. For AXO this years event was the busiest we've experienced. AXO had both indoor and outdoor displays at this expo, and particularly strong interest was shown in the AXO Metro mobile shredding truck, as detailed above.
We'd like to thank all who visited us at the above events and look forward to seeing you next time, if not sooner.
