M & J Bowers Enter On Site Shredding
Yeovil based M & J Bowers has become the latest Off site Shredding Company to add On Site Shredding to their business model. Having just taken delivery of an AXO 608 Mobile Shredding Truck they now offer a complete service for on and off site shredding covering the South West. The AXO 608 features a shredder capable of shredding up to 2200kgs per hour and holds 5500kgs a discharge conveyor is used for unloading. The truck also features remote engine start stop which saves fuel and time, minimising the impact on the environment.
Commenting on his decision to enter the On Site Shredding market John Bowers, Managing Director of M & J Bowers comments "We are excited to expand our services into the On Site shredding market covering the South West which is dominated by some larger companies. Three is the magic number at Russell Richardson & Sons Ltd
They say the best things come in three's and Sheffield based Russell Richardson & Sons Ltd are certainly reinforcing that statement. Not only have they just relocated their head office after 9 years they have also invested ?200,000 in a full plant setup which included an AXO WM832e-16 shredder. The final piece of news is that they have become the first UK Company to order an AXO 408 7.5t Metro Mobile Shredding Truck.
Assured Security Shredding is leading the way.
It has been a busy year at Assured Security Shredding, the West London security shredding business have installed a new shredder/baler system, signed an exclusive agreement with AXO Shredders, launched franchising and have just sold the first franchise in South Wales.
The new shredding and baling system is an AXO WM608e coupled with an Anis Trend 75.75 fully automatic baler and is the 5th system where Anis Trend has been installed with an AXO Shredder since 2008. The system was designed to meet the needs of Mobile Shredding Truck offloads and also additional shredding through the AXO WM608e which shreds approximately 2 tonnes per hour depending on material.
Select Environmental Enter On-site Shredding Market
Reading based Select Environmental Services has just taken delivery of an AXO 408 Mobile Shredding Truck. The 12 tonne DAF is capable of shredding up to 1200kgs of paper per hour, and following the move to walking discharge floors is now able to hold 4500kgs of shredded paper.
The new AXO 408 Mobile features remote engine start/stop which will now be a standard fit to all AXO Mobile Shredding Trucks. This feature saves fuel and reduces the impact on the environment whilst reducing the amount of time the truck is on site collecting and shredding confidential information.
Datashredders continues to grow
Datashredders the Cambridgeshire based Onsite Shredding Firm continues to grow during the economic downturn adding a third AXO Mobile Shredding Truck to its fleet. The latest truck a WM408 DAF 12 tonne compliments his existing WM408 and WM608. REISSWOLF Scotland chooses AXO Shredders
REISSWOLF Scotland is the first REISSWOLF business to purchase from AXO. Working in collaboration with ECS, AXO recently completed the full installation of a WM608e coupled with a bespoke conveyor and Anis Trend 7575f baler. REISSWOLF Scotland has experienced rapid growth since they launched in May 2007 and this new system was essential, not only to accommodate this growth, but also to position them for continued expansion in the years ahead. The AXO WM608e is one of AXO's most popular shredders and this is the fourth system where AXO have successfully worked with Anis Trend Balers.
Shred on Site Add to Fleet
Chertsey based company, Shred-on-Site, have recently taken delivery of another AXO WM608 Mobile Shredding Truck. Their fleet now consists of three AXO trucks and Shred- on-Site have grown to this size in just two and a half years. Director Adam Chandler commented “We have progressed to a point where another truck was not only good future planning, but a necessity to keep on top of the new business and enquiry coming in”
AXO 7.5 Ton Metro Enters Service in Ireland
Irish Security Shredding Ltd has taken possession of an AXO WM408 "Metro" mobile shredding truck for operation in and around Dublin.
The proud owner, Chris Skelly, has been running off-site shredding operations for some time and recently decided that an on site shredding service was a logical way to expand his company operations into a growing market. "I first saw the Metro on the AXO stand at the RWM show in Birmingham last year, I was very impressed with the machine and its capabilities so I went away and did some homework on the possibility of using one in Dublin"
Another AXO Customer gains NAID AAA Certification
Gloucester, UK, based mobile document shredding firm ALLShred has become the first English and the second UK company to be awarded one of the confidential document shredding industries highest certification standards, NAID AAA Certification.
NAID (National Association of Information Destruction, Phoenix, Az, USA) operates a certification program designed to give consumers of confidential document shredding services confidence that the processes and practices of a shredding firm can be relied on to securely destroy confidential documents.
Storage firm chooses AXO
AXO Shredders recently won the order for a complete destruction plant for a storage company servicing the Benelux area.
The plant, which features several of AXO's electric drive shredding machines, was designed to the specific requirements of the customer. The system enables a wide variety of waste product from the large storage centre to be shredded.
Another AXO on the Continent
Mobile document shredding is spreading further into Eastern Europe, and to meet the demand AXO Shredders have recently commissioned one of their 408 DAF model mobile document shredding trucks for the shredding firm Shred and Cut in Belgrade, Serbia.
The AXO 408 is a popular choice with mobile shredding companies, with a throughput capability of over 1,000kgs of waste office paper per hour and a shredded paper payload of 4,000kgs. Representing approximately 60 of the popular 240 liter sized containers, the full payload is discharged in minutes via a walking floor.
Recession impact lesser on mobile shredding firms
The worldwide recession is having a dramatic effect on some businesses, however some mobile shredding companies are reporting an increase in business.
When staff are moved from office to office or made redundant they generate waste paper, a portion of which ends up being shredded. Mobile shredding firms report being very busy due to this.

Are all shredding machines the same?
Industrial electric motors are used in a great variety of applications, and across these applications there is a vast difference in the way the motors come under load. An industrial fan for instance loads up slowly as the speed increases, so the current drawn is very constant and predictable. An industrial slow speed shredding machine has a very unpredictable load pattern – it sometimes loads up slowly, but other times could become suddenly loaded or could even start fully loaded. This presents a particular challenge to motor control systems.

You may remember that we introduced you to Lou in our August edition of AXO News. His business was going from strength to strength thanks to his willingness to get out there and knock on doors to generate new work. This marketing strategy has worked well for Lou, but recently, he discovered that he could grab the attention of even more potential clients with a simple video streaming live on his website's homepage.

Don Munro knows about the importance of security. He should, because for 15 years, he ran a successful security consultancy business. Recently, he decided it was time to diversify within the security field.
Don purchased a shredding company, Confidential Document Destruction, which was operating a small-scale shredding service in Tauranga, New Zealand. The scope for expanding the business appealed to Don and he got straight on with planning the growth of his new enterprise – which included the purchase of a much bigger shredding machine.
Creating a cutting-edge business in the UK.
For Shred-on-Site, the birth of their recently-formed UK business began with a unique and innovative piece of technology - an AXO mobile document shredding truck. Mobile on site shredding is changing the global document destruction marketplace, and Shred-on-Site's four directors are certain that their business will do extremely well with AXO's off-the-shelf mobile unit. In fact, it's integral to their business model.
Some business opportunities are better than others, and Shred-on-Site's directors believe that mobile on site shredding is one of the great ones. "We would recommend it to entrepreneurs internationally as a sound business model, but like anything, local market conditions are still important," explains Adam Chandler, one of Shred-on-Site's directors.
Cleardata captures the OnSite shredding market in South Africa.
For Gianmarco Lorenzi, owner of South Africa's successful OnSite shredding company, Cleardata, buying an AXO truck-mounted shredder was one of the best purchases he's ever made.
A former Auditor with accounting giant Deloitte, Gianmarco was working in Sydney when the idea for his business came to him. "I was standing at the photocopier one day looking at the locked shredding bins, when it occurred to me that this wasn't common practice back in South Africa. People usually just chucked it in the bin or the recycling box," says Gianmarco.
On-site Shredding in South Wales
Mobile shredding continues to spread as more customers become aware they can select this service to shred their confidential documents.
Martin Stephens of South Wales Shredding has recently taken the step of providing such a shredding solution to his region. Based in Cardiff, Martin has recently purchased a Mobile Shredding Truck manufactured by AXO Shredders Ltd in the UK. "I'd heard good things about AXO and after seeing its performance when demonstrated the decision was easy".
Mobiles to Riga and Warsaw
The first mobile shredding truck supplied by AXO to the Latvian market began operation in Riga in late 2006. In the same week AXO also supplied a mobile shredding truck to a company in Warsaw, Poland. Mobile shredding is relatively new to Latvia and Poland, and like many countries in Europe these markets are witnessing a rising demand for on-site shredding.
Sydney companies go with AXO
While the Australian confidential destruction market has until recently been almost solely off-site shredding based, it seems things are about to change. Recently two AXO mobile shredding trucks were commissioned for two different companies in Sydney, and the move towards mobile shredding seems to have met strong demand from end users, with both trucks quickly clocking up the shredding hours.

Paper Shredding Companies Select Affordable, Durable Kenworth T300 for Mobile Units
Fast-growing shredding services company Absolute Shreds had never used a Kenworth truck in its business. But when the Kenworth T300 was incorporated by AXO Shredders, which specializes in manufacturing customized mobile shredding systems, Absolute Shreds jumped at the offer.
Two-year-old Blue-Pencil Mobile Shredding & Recycling of Mississauga, Ont., recently bought an AXO unit, which has more than double the shredding capacity of its other truck. "The AXO shredder offers the fastest technology in the industry and the Kenworth T300 is a powerful, durable truck, which should last at least 15 years," said Blue-Pencil president Mario Skopek.
